Keeping A Consistent And Equal Scent Throughout The Home, The Way Hotels And High-end Retail Stores Do: A Mini How-To Guide
Creating a consistent smell throughout your home is not a complex undertaking. There is no need for thousands of dollars in equipment or machinery that must be installed, and it is not necessary to void the warranty of the HVAC system to achieve a nice, consistent scent throughout the home.
Technology in the scent diffuser industry has advanced so far, that today’s diffusers are merely 10 squared inches in size, weigh less than 10 lbs. and operate on regular 110v electricity. The total cost of ownership is generally less than buying single-use candles or reed diffusers when annualized. The equipment can be installed, configured, and maintained by individual homeowners.
Homeowners looking to get their desired scent throughout their home, not just a single room or space, usually look to understand the following:
- How do I know what is the right machine for me?
- How complicated is it to install maintain and use?
- What is the cost compared to standalone individual diffusers?

Selecting The Right Machine
There are plenty of different options in nebulizing or scenting a home with standalone diffusers, but for a consistent and controlled scent, the best solution is an HVAC diffuser such as M10, M20 & M30.
In general, the selection of the HVAC diffuser is a very simple process. It is only necessary to know the square footage of the home to select a machine that will sufficiently cover the area. There is no need for complex calculations to figure out what size machine is needed. Most HVAC-capable scent machines can cover up to 3000 square feet, powerful enough to sufficiently scent most residential homes. If the concern is that a machine is too powerful, the settings can be dialed down.
All Aroma Designers models work seamlessly with the HVAC forced air system and do not modify the manufacturer HVAC system warranty. The unit is a stand-alone, wall-mounted unit that infuses the nebulized scent into the forced air system.
How To Determine The Right Settings That Work The Best
The diffusers are made by design to be simple to install and use. Most HVAC-capable diffusers are “Smart” products, controlled through a mobile app, with ability to control operating settings, timing, and amount of the scent to be released during each run period. The diffuser seamlessly integrates with the HVAC system and conforms to the schedule of the HVAC system.
What determines the strength of the scent and the area covered are the timing and scenting level settings, which both can be adjusted and controlled. For the optimal settings, it will take a few weeks of usage to determine the best setup. In general, we recommend starting with the manufacturer settings and adjusting up or down to the desired levels of intensity and frequency. What About Maintenance
In addition to considering the size of the space to be scented, another important consideration, and often a point of confusion is the maintenance of the equipment. The diffuser is designed to require minimal maintenance, with the idea that anyone with basic mechanical skills would be able to conduct it.
There are three main components on the diffuser that may require maintenance:
- The plastic tubing connecting the diffuser and the HVAC system – maintenance generally consists of gently wiping the oil down or rinsing with rubbing alcohol to remove any dust particles or retained scent oil. In general, this should be done no more than once per a three-month period.
- The oil container – should be rinsed with rubbing alcohol each time a new scent is used, or once every six months or so.
- The mesh filter located inside the oil container – maintained by rinsing with rubbing alcohol or replacing it. There is no set schedule It should be maintained on an as-needed basis.
